Foo Dogs or guardian lions are a symbol of Chinese culture and Buddhism that originated from ancient India. They are usually carved from stone and called shishi (石獅; shíshī) in Chinese, or lion dogs or foo dogs in English. They are often seen in pairs, with a male holding a ball that represents the physical world and a female holding a cub that represents the spiritual world. They are believed to protect buildings from evil spirits and enemies. They were first used in Chinese imperial palaces, and then spread to other Asian countries such as Japan (see komainu), Korea, Philippines, Tibet, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos, and Malaysia.

Ready to Ship goods are products that are pre-made in small batch runs using popular leather colors and textures that we know we will sell out. These items are priced slightly lower so that customers can give us an opportunity impress them with our craftsmanship and leather quality.
Why are the Ready to Ship items cheaper than the Custom Made items?
We intentionally price them lower so that customers can give us a try and evaluate us on quality and craftsmanship
Can I personalize my name on this item?
Unfortunately no. These items are pre-made and no personalization or changes can be made on these items.
How soon can you ship?
The Ready-to-Ship items are available for shipment in 3-5 days. Shipping via USPS takes about 5-7 business days, while FedEx is 3-5 business days. We are able to offer overnight shipping or 2nd day air on request. Please contact us at cs@storyleather.com if you need your order expedited.
